I have included a range of work which I have taken from different projects that I have participated in. I have included life drawings to show my drawing ability as well as textiles pieces which I have enjoyed creating. Some images also show my work in progress as I have just specialised in textiles, therefore have just started creating new pieces of work. I enjoy working with different types of materials and experimenting with the ways that fabrics can be manipulated and used for a wide range of things. I am also interested in the surface pattern designs of materials and the colours and tones which work well together. I am currently working in an interior design shop where I have learnt alot about the properties of materials and the ways that materials can be used to look good within the home. I have increased my knowledge and I now serve customers to help them choose fabrics and wallpapers to go with their existing items within their home. I would like to study Textiles in Practice at university so I can learn new ways of working and also develop the skills I already have to create new pieces of work. I want to go to Manchester to do this as I think that it is a great city to live in and to get a place on the course would be a great opportunity to have. I believe if I work hard at the course, I will reach my goal to get a good career at the end of it.

This piece was from a standing figure project where I created a life size figure based on a wooden mannequin.

This is a self portrait in the style of Laura Laine's work, created in a textiles form.

This was part of a project called 'The Standing Figure' where I made a giant rag doll based on several different artists, including Yinka Shonibare and Claes Oldenburg.

This was the final piece for a clown project I was working on, which was created to show that clowns can be viewed in different ways; as friendly characters for children's entertainment as well as being scary figures used in horror movies.

This is the start of a textiles piece which I am currently working on. It is created by hammering nails into a wooden board and wrapping wool and threads around them to create an image.  

This photo shows a collage of images from a piece of textiles work I created. It is presented as a timeline and is based on my little sister's life from when she was born to the present day at age 7. As she was born prematurely, I chose delicate fabrics at the start of the timeline to symbolise her fragile state. As she gets older, the materials get stronger to show her progress.
